What's for sale?

This is a stylish, desktop perpetual calendar in chrome plated metal and Bakelite.

The two small, metal rollers at each end change the date numbers, while the two larger, brown Bakelite discs alter the day and the month.

The main body is an octagonal barrel which sits on a rectangular stand.

We don't know the maker or when it was made. It could be from anytime during the 1930s to 1950s. They're tough and seem to survive well.

Please note that while we think the ends are Bakelite, they could be another type of early cast plastic. They seem to be cast rather than moulded, which does suggest Bakelite.

What condition is it in?

  • Second-hand
  • Fully operational and in good condition
  • There are a few scratches and scuffs
  • There's a little rust on the bottom of the base
  • The plating is worn around the apertures

What are the measurements?

  • 4cm high
  • 12.5cm long
  • 4cm base depth
  • 291 grams
