What's for sale?
This is a 9ct 1/5th rolled gold bangle with great colour and an engraved floral design on one half.
It was made using the rolled gold technique, where a solid bronze core was wrapped in 9ct gold and then heated to fuse and bond them together. This gives a far superior and longer lasting finish compared to gold plating. For this piece, the gold makes up one fifth of the total weight.
The term "gold-filled" is more commonly used today and is synonymous with "rolled gold".
Who made it and when?
It's probably at least 40 years old; the maker's mark is similar to that used by Birmingham Jewellers Albert Jackson and reads:
What condition is it in?
