What's for sale?
This is a richly-coloured, teacup and saucer, hand-painted in deep blue with orange and gold highlights. This style of decoration is sometimes referred to as "Gaudy Welsh".
Who made it and when?
It was made in the late 19th century by the very short-lived English pottery of Hibbert & Boughey of Longton, Staffordshire. The pattern number 135869 was registered in 1889 and was apparently the only design that the pottery produced.
