A large, stoneware, promotional water jug for the French pastis brand Ricard. Second-hand.
What's for sale?
This is a large, stoneware, promotional water jug for the French pastis brand Ricard and made by the French company Revol.
It's a good-sized jug with a fine pourer, and glazed inside and out in a rich, dark green. On both sides "RICARD" is embossed in white. These would have been produced in fairly large numbers for use in hotels, bars and restaurants. This appears to be an older example, but could be from any time during the 1930s to 1960s.
The form number 830 is impressed on the base, along with the mark "Coulange St Jerome Marseille. Terre d'acier Saint Uze. Revol". Saint-Uze is the type of ceramic produced in the Drôme region of France, in and around the village of Saint Uze, from the early nineteenth century on.
