Price & Kensington Blue Sheep Design Tea Storage Jar With Lid

A Price Kensington Blue Sheep design tea jar for sale.

This is a very collectable kitchen storage jar for tea, by Price & Kensington potteries. It is hand-decorated with their spongeware blue sheep design. It is labelled "Tea" in large letters and has the original lid with rubber seal.

The decoration was all applied by hand, using shaped pieces of sponge. There was a large range of tableware in this pattern, including teapots, mugs, plates and various serving dishes.

Price Kensington Potteries maker's mark.

It is fairly modern and made by the Staffordshire pottery Price & Kensington. The range was discontinued several years ago. The maker's mark is embossed on the base and reads:

• Hand Painted
• Price Keninsigton
• Made in England

• Second-hand
• In excellent condition
• No chips or damage
• There are some paint marks from manufacture underneath
• The rubber seal is tight but is probably less flexible than it was when new
