A brief history of Robert Pringle and Sons

Robert Pringle & Sons Limited were a London-based jewellers from the early 1800s until the late 1960s.

  • In 1820 Robert Pringle moved his business to London
  • In 1835 he became an employer at a workshop at Clerkenwell, later moving to Wilderness Row
  • His son Robert took over the business and in 1881, they moved to the "Wilderness Works" at 42 Clerkenwell Road, from where it expanded substantially
  • By the late 1960's it had ceased to trade
