What's for sale?
This is a small, metal gramophone needle tin with bold orange and blue graphics from the "Songster" brand. As always, the design features a nightingale, here silhouetted against the moon.
It has the usual wire-hinged lid and would have contained around 100 needles.
The Songster brand was made by J Stead & Co Ltd. from Sheffield, England, who were in operation from the 1920s through to the 1960s.
What condition is it in?
- Second-hand
- In good condition, with the usual wear and paint loss
- The lid has a small crease indentation which catches the light
- There are several scratches on the underneath, although the lettering remains largely readable
- The wire hinge and lid work
What are the measurements?
- 1cm high (0.5 inches)
- 4.5cm width (1.75 inches)
- 3.5cm depth (1.25 inches)
