Viner's Craftsman Sheffield Pewter Sugar Shaker

What's for sale?

This is a large, screw-top, pewter sugar caster or shaker in a hand-hammered finish. It was made in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, from English, leadless pewter and so is safe for food use.

It has is a simple, conical shape with rounded bottom. The top is a screw fit, with small, cross-shaped holes.

On the base the maker's mark reads: "craftsman sheffield pewter". This was the trademark used by the Sheffield manufacturer Viner's Limited between 1926 and 1939.

• Second-hand
• In good condition
• The screw top fits and works well
• There's a shallow dent half way up the body
• There's a creased dent above the bottom seam
