This is a shimmering, eye-catching pair of crystal earrings by Butler & Wilson, the contemporary British costume jewellery maker. They are pendant earrings for pierced ears and use hooped fittings.

Each earring comprises a pair of clear and bright blue, Swarovski crystal eyes hanging from a silver-coloured loop, via two chains of different lengths. A single, black faceted crystal forms the iris.

Since the times of Ancient Greece, many cultures have used markings and jewellery depicting blue eyes like these to bring good luck and protect against the so-called evil eye.
