What's for sale?
This is a a mid 20th Century, French glass soda siphon in a rarer pink coloured glass. We think this is one of the nicest colours, the base in particular looks strong. It has a thick glass body, twisted slightly when manufactured to create a really nice effect.
Etched in the centre, in large text, are the words:
"G. Gaulin, À Auxon".
The metal top is also engraved:
"DEBOUY, AUXON"
"Vve E Thessier. PARIS Garanti sans Plomb"
Gaulin is presumably the cafe or restaurant in Auxon, which is in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of eastern France.
The Vve signifies a widow with the late husband's name and most likely refers to the supplier.
What condition is it in?
- Second-hand
- In good condition
- There is a mark on the shoulder, as if it was struck by something and you can feel the graze with your finger
- The trigger is seized
- The top could probably be removed, but we haven't tried
- The glass inner tube is intact
- The interior is stained
What are the measurements?
- 31.5cm high (13 inches)
- 10cm diameter (4 inches)
- 1853 grams
