And then there was a misty walk back home along the Gentpoortvest. Can you spot the sleeping cormorant?
This is de Burg in Bruges, which along with de Markt nearby are the heart of the city. It's very early in the morning and it's uncharacteristically free of crowds.
From the left: the corner of the Brugse Vrije, it's late 1700s facade from when it was a courthouse, then Stadshuis Brugge, the town hall from the 14th century, in the next corner, the beautiful 12th century Basilica of the Holy Blood, followed by the obligatory chocolate shop, restaurant and finally, the Belfort poking out from de Markt, above the trees.
