What's for sale?
This is a modern, plastic, toy cable car by German manufacturer Dickie Spielzeug. It's in its original box with all the necessary cabling and pulleys, and so is still a working toy.
The body is grey and red plastic with a sunny alpine scene along the bottom. It has clear, plastic windows and a silver-coloured, plastic A-frame. The winding mechanism is housed a red plastic console with pretend dials and control panel, which can be held in place by the supplied metal clamp.
As well as playing with them, toy cable cars make fun ceiling decorations and can be used as alternative Christmas lighting. You can string it up as intended, or just hang it from a hook, and adding LED lights will bring it to life at night.
Who made it and when?
The German toy maker Dickie Spielzeug was founded in 1971 by Wolfgang Sauerborn and were known as Sauerborn & Stübinger. In in 1984 they were renamed Dickie Spielzeug (Deutschland) and Dickie Toys (International). We think this is from the early 1990s.
