This is a Sterling silver, enamelled charm or pendant depicting the famous red rose of Lancashire.
It has a design of five champlevé red petals with green leaf tips in between. The centre of the flower is silver. A small loop at the top enables attachment to a bracelet or necklace.
It was made by Deakin & Francis, a long established jewellers from Birmingham, England. Impressed on the back is "SILVER" and the makers mark "D & F". It has been tested positively for Sterling silver.
Champlevé (raised field) is the technique of hollowing out bordered sections, filling them with enamel and polishing, such that a uniform height is achieved.
