What's for sale?
This is an amber-coloured, glass water jug made by Sowerbys' Glass in an Art Deco style. It's from their pattern 2550 Water Set, made in clear glass and also in four colours: green, blue, flint and this amber. Some colours are harder to find, which affects the price, but they're all sturdy, usable jugs.
Who made it and when?
There's no mark, but it was made by Sowerbys' Ellison Glass Works Limited of Gateshead in the 1950s (see the catalogue reproduction at 20th Century Glass).
What condition is it in?
- Second-hand
- In very good condition
- There are air bubbles
- No chips or cracks
What are the measurements?
- 18cm high (about 7 inches)
- 13.5cm from handle to spout (about 5.5 inches)
- 1017 grams
