What's for sale?
This is a large, handmade, copper and brass, "Monk's cap" ewer, jug or pitcher from 19th century Tibet. The handle, spout and flared foot are in brass, the body made from beaten sheet copper.
It is a very traditional shape with an exaggerated rim and spout. It's known as a monk's cap due its resemblance to the traditional winter hats worn by Buddhist monks.
The beautiful handle is in the form of a muscular dragon and is what really stands out for us. The beautiful patina is another major positive.
It has taken a lot of damage and the spout has been pressed in at some time, leading to the ripped neck.
What condition is it in?
- Second-hand
- In fair condition
- There is severe damage to the neck below the spout
- There is a small split to the brass foot
- There are many small dents

- 21cm from spout to handle (8.25 inches)
- 9cm in diameter at the base (3.5 inches)
