What's for sale?
This is a handmade, earthenware olive dish by the now retired British potter Val Sparkes. The design is influenced by the shape of a traditional British coastal fishing boat. It has the identification number of PE27 on both sides, which is the registration code for Poole in Dorset.
It has the look of an old-fashioned boat and its colours are a pretty blend of red, cream and very pale green. These are all hand-built and hand-painted items.
This is from her 'All at Sea' range which also included her shipping forecast designs. If her earlier designs largely featured animals, the designs from the latter part of her career featured the sea.
