What's for sale?

This is a very nice bracelet of blue and white enamel over Sterling silver, made by Norwegian jeweller David Andersen.

It comprises eleven Sterling silver panels, joined via pairs of silver links and fastened with a push-pull tongue clasp.

On each wide panel is a basse taille, sunburst in silver and visible beneath the enamel. On the smaller panels are champlevé flowers in blue.

Basse-taille (low cut) is the technique of engraving a pattern in relief and covering it with enamel, such that the engraving is still visible beneath.

Champlevé (raised field) is the technique of hollowing out bordered sections, filling them with enamel and polishing, such that a uniform height is achieved.

Who made it and when?

It was made by the Norwegian jewellery manufacturer David Andersen. The maker's mark reads:

  • D-A
  • 925S (and a pair of scales, the International Convention hallmark)
  • Norway Sterling

There's no other mark to identify the exact person who made it, so it could have been made at any time since the 1960s.

What condition is it in?

  • Second-hand
  • In very good condition

What are the measurements?

  • 20cm long (just under 8 inches)
  • 1cm in width
