What's for sale?
This is a collection of three salt-glazed gin bottles made for the Dutch company Erven Lucas Bols. It comprises two 1 litre bottles and one 1/2 litre bottle.
The bottles are impressed:
- Erven Lucas Bols
- Het Lootsje
- Amsterdam
"Het Lootsje" (little shed) refers to the first Bols distillery on Rozengracht in Amsterdam.
What condition are they in?
- Second-hand
- In fair condition
- Bottles like these were crudely made and probably weren't intended to survive for very long
- There are imperfections, pitting and scrapes all over
- There's a pin head hole in the side of the smaller bottle, at about a third of its height and showing as a dark spot on our photographs
What are the measurements?
Large bottles:
- 30cm high
- 8.5cm diameter
- 1158 grams & 1244 grams
Small bottle:
- 24cm high
- 7cm diameter
- 700 grams
