Handmade Studio Pottery Flagon

What's for sale?

This is a large, handmade, stoneware bottle or flagon. It's beautifully proportioned and has been decorated with a small finger loop handle and a raised rosette or flower in relief.

The upper part has been finished with a rich, high-gloss glaze in two very different tones of brown, reminiscent of a Tenmoku glaze. The bottom has been left in it's natural colour and has a matt finish.

There is an impressed potter's mark of a stylised J and W on the base, which may be John West (of Lansdown Pottery).
