What's for sale?

This is a nice pair of salt glazed, salt & pepper pots by Jane Hamlyn.

We think these are sweet. They have a rustic look with cork bungs on top, a little like miniature cider jugs.

This textured finish is known as salt glaze, and is the result of adding salt and other ingredients to the kiln during the high temperature part of firing.

Who made them and when?

They were made by Jane Hamlyn, the highly regarded British potter known for her use of salt glaze and also for producing interesting designs for everyday, functional pieces like these. Her "JH" mark is impressed near the base.

We're not sure of their age, but going by the Heals of London label, they appear to be from the 1980s or 1990s.

What condition are they in?

  • Second-hand
  • In very good, undamaged condition
  • The corks are original and missing a few bits, but are fairly intact

What are the measurements?

  • 7.5cm and 8.5cm high, without the corks
  • 7cm base diameter
  • 339 grams for the pair
