What's for sale?

This is the Swatch "Dada Traces" unisex watch made by the Swiss watchmaker for their Autumn/Winter 2003 catalogue. The model number is GZ184.

The Dada movement of art and literature was born at the Cabaret Voltaire in Zurich during the First World War. The movement embraced chaos and irrationality, rejecting the values which they believed led to the Great War. Swatch feel an affinity with the movement and see it as one of their predecessors.

This watch is a striking design. The black dial has been painted as if it's been wiped away to reveal the inner workings. On the dial are typewritten numerals and the hour, minute and sweep second hands are all bright red. It's clear and easy to read.

The strap is a cut-up of text from the movement's launch.

The watch case is clear resin and inside is a reliable ETA quartz movement powered by a 390 battery.
