What's for sale?
This is a signed, stylish choker necklace of articulated, black panels by the American costume jewellery maker Monet.
There are nine gold-coloured metal sections, each with a black enamel insert. The insert is cut so that it appears to be bound into place by gold coloured straps. A tenth panel, without the insert, acts as an extender for altering the length.
The contrasting black and gold colour and simulated strapwork give it an almsot ancient Egyptian look.
The maker's mark Monet © is stamped on both catches and on the back of one of the end panels. It was probably made during the 1960s or 1970s.
