This is a large, vintage, earthenware water jug, branded for the French pastis brand PEC 45. It's one of the rarer pastis jugs, in dark green with embossed lettering in white.
From the 1930s on, pastis became a subsitute for absinthe. Mixed with water, it has a subtle aniseed flavour and is often drunk as an aperitif. Pastis PEC (Picon et Compagnie) was founded in 1951 in the Sète region of Southern France. It was a huge success and became known as "Le Pastis Impecc" (impeccable is the same in French and English).
In 1978 the company was sold to the Remy-Contreaux group, and the production of Pastis PEC ceased.

This was made by the famous Moulin des Loups pottery at their Saint-Amand-Orchies-Hamage factory at Orchies in Northern France. The printed maker's marks on the base is almost illegible but reads:
What condition is it in?
