What's for sale?

This is a small, hand decorated, West German vase from the 1960s. It's from the Jasba factory in Ransbach-Baumbach, in the Rhineland.

It's short, wide vase with a bold, floral design in orange and green over a cream background. There is a hint of the far east about it and the design is perhaps influenced by Chinese lanterns. The inside is a high gloss, dark brown. 

Who made it?

It is unsigned, but was made by the German maker Jasba Keramik. Jasba had stopped producing vases by 1975. The marks on the bottom read:

  • 156/14 (the form number and height in cm)
  • WEST GERMANY (in an embossed square, which indicates Jasba)
  • W. German (printed in red ink)

What condition is it in?

  • Second-hand
  • Very good condition
  • No chips or cracks

What are the measurements?

  • 14cm high (5.5 inches)
  • 17cm at the widest (7 inches)
  • 695 grams
